Renard victorieux - Victorious Fox
The inspiration for this one came from a special place. Whilst in Charlottetown for work, I bought a couple of gifts for my family for the upcoming Christmas and a sticker of foxes that I then put on my computer. I always looked at it and at some point I thought I should make a painting with a similar pose, but I had wanted to play with some texture under metallic leaf, so I thought of the shrubbery in the sticker and decided to incorporate a broken tree. As a reference to the tales I had learned young, I gave the crow’s cheese to the fox (he’s a real smooth talker). It’s made with oil pastels and copper leaf on a 24 inches by 24 inches wood panel prepped with a hard acrylic ground.
