This drawing was made as to inspire myself to make more graphite works, as I’d been slacking on that end. It is, as easily deductible from the title, a practice in the play of values with small gradient with heavy contrast. I hadn’t drawn fully, not without the intent to cover it with oil paint for a while, and so I used what I thought would be best, Fabriano 300 g. hot pressed artistico paper (8 inches by 8 inches), but I now want to try new surfaces, as it was maybe still a bit too textured for my liking. I’ve framed it and want to keep it as a memento of starting a motion, which is in this case to work with graphite more often.
