Étude d'une main illuminée dans le noir - Study of a hand illuminated in the dark

I made this drawing with the intent of replicating it in further paintings, therefore I wanted to draw it properly first! It helped me understand the lighting dynamic present in the reference photo I took. I had put a black background on the reference photo just to help me see light colors a bit better, and I decided, once the drawing was finished, to cover the background of the paper with black gouache, which really enhanced the dramatic effect I believe. The drawing was done on Stonehenge hot press watercolor paper of 10 inches by 8 inches glued with a reversible adhesive to an aluminium panel.
