Autoportrait no. 3 - Self-portrait no. 3

For this painting, it came down to a quick pose I took after coming out of a shower, where I realized I could split my beard in this fashion when it’s wet, so I put on my favorite historical hat and a neck ruff and posed! I had been interested to do more involved portrait with elements such as these. Self-portrait are becoming more and more of interest when I try new things, as a stepping stone really. It was done on an oil-primed aluminium panel of 16 inches by 12 inches with oils and gold imitation leaf.
