Autoportrait no. 2 - Self-portrait no. 2

For a three part class I held to teach how to paint with oils, I had to make a demo of what we were going to study. Therefore, I made this self-portrait. I made it in three layers (as shown below), as to do the same that the students would in the three session we’d have. First was the pencil layer, which I figured would be the hardest to teach, since it would be expecting a lot upfront from student, but thankfully that did not show to be too much of a hassle for them. I then did my first layer, monochrome for the portrait part, and a nice green I had been wanting to do. I finished with a glaze layer. Thankfully it dried just in time for the first session, since it was planned on short notice! It’s made with oil paint on a 12 inches by 16 inches wood panel prepped with a hard acrylic ground.
